Main Gallery Queen Elizabeth Park and Corridor Galleries at both Queen Elizabeth Park and Trafalgar Park

PROPOSAL DEADLINE: SEPTEMBER 1, 2022

The Town of Oakville welcomes proposals from artists, collectives, curators and community groups in the areas of fine art, craft, performance art and digital arts for the following exhibition spaces:

• Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC): Main Gallery and Corridor Galleries; and
• Trafalgar Park Community Centre (TPCC): Corridor Gallery

The Exhibitions Committee reviews proposals twice a year.

The Main Gallery at Queen Elizabeth Park presents professional artwork by local artists. Content ranges from historical to contemporary themes. Exhibitions may also include works by national and international artists and exhibitions proposed by curators or collectives. Rental rates are for a minimum of 3 weeks and range from $389 to $285.27 + tax weekly. Click here for a floor plan of the Main Gallery (pdf, 173 KB). We are currently booking exhibitions for 2023-2024.

Corridor Galleries at both Queen Elizabeth Park and Trafalgar Park invite artists at any stage in their career to apply to exhibit original artwork in the Town of Oakville’s Recreation and Culture community centres. These public exhibition spaces provide a platform for professional and emerging artists, instructors and students in the community at large. Exhibiting in the Corridors is free. Exhibitions are on display for approximately 4 months. We are currently booking exhibitions for January 2023 and beyond.

Queen Elizabeth Park Corridor Galleries offers a total of 4 km of exhibition hallways throughout the community centre. Up to 10 exhibitions are scheduled in each of the 3 seasons. Click here for a map of the QEPCCC corridors (pdf, 1.9 MB) and here for Corridor Gallery Guide (pdf, 2 MB).

Trafalgar Park Corridor Gallery offers 30 running feet of prominent exhibition space in a main corridor with high ceilings. This newly opened centre is home to a permanent display by the Oakville Museum, as well as a new outdoor public artwork by artist Laura Marotta.

APPLICATIONS

Consult our Exhibition page for an application form as well as the Exhibition Purpose and Procedures for more information. Applications must include:

• Application form found in the Exhibition Application.
• Written proposal with details regarding the issues or ideas explored, as well as the type of medium and format of the works to be exhibited, in three paragraphs or less.
• Five to ten images of your work, submit by email, USB drive, CD and/or DVD. Images must be PC compatible in JPEG format, and a maximum of 1 MB file size (maximum resolution of 1024×768 pixels at 72dpi). Do not submit PowerPoint presentations, PDFs or large TIFF files. Do not send original artwork.
• A corresponding image list. Label all materials and list the works numerically, indicating each title, year of production, materials used and overall dimensions.
• Provide a current curriculum vitae (resumé) listing your training/education, exhibitions, grants/awards and other professional art experience (three pages maximum).

ABOUT QUEEN ELIZABETH PARK COMMUNITY AND CULTURAL CENTRE

Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) is a unique and dynamic public space created to fulfill the recreation, arts and cultural needs of the community. This one-of-a-kind, multi-use facility features more than 144,000 square feet of activity space, making QEPCCC one of the largest venues in Canada to house such a diverse collection of artistic, cultural and active living program opportunities, and cultural organizations.

QEPCCC offers inspiring programs for all ages and abilities including classes, workshops, camps, studio memberships and drop-in activities. The facility boasts an aquatics centre, two gymnasia, a youth centre, an older adult centre, dance studios, a recording studio, fine arts studios, a rehearsal hall, black box theatre, gallery, museum space and much more!

ABOUT TRAFALGAR PARK COMMUNITY CENTRE

Formerly Oakville Arena, the redeveloped community centre includes an arena that retains the distinctive wooden truss system recognized as a heritage feature, an indoor running track, a senior’s centre, a gymnasium, a fitness centre and public meeting spaces that offer recreational and cultural programming.

Both community centres are fully accessible.
