Call for Artists: City of Brampton Artist Roster, 2026-2027
Deadline: July 20, 2026, 2:00pm ET
The City of Brampton invites artists to join our artist roster! We are seeking artists with a passion for community engagement and art to activate, revitalize, and transform community spaces through various art projects throughout 2026-2027. Selected artists will have the opportunity to shape public spaces and community identity through collaborative art projects.
Key Qualifications
- A portfolio that demonstrates ability to idealize and execute an art project. This includes, but is not limited to, murals, sculptures, digital and new media, textile art, performance art, etc.
- Demonstrated experience in facilitating workshops and co-creation with community members. Please note, this is not a requirement to apply, but definitely considered an asset!
Opportunities and Compensation
- Artists may be selected for projects on a case-by-case basis, ensuring the right fit for each unique community initiative.
- Compensation will vary by project.
- While inclusion on the roster does not guarantee immediate participation in this year’s projects, it opens opportunities for involvement in 2026-2027 public art initiatives.
About the Opportunities
Municipal public art programs often include several different streams of activity, ranging from large-scale, long-term projects aligned with capital development, to temporary street-level works of a human scale. As the City of Brampton works towards establishing a refreshed public art program through the implementation of the Public Art Strategy, there are interim opportunities to deliver small-scale public art initiatives that contribute to community vibrancy, local talent development, and targeted placemaking objectives.
Examples of opportunities that might call on this roster include: My Neighbourhood Art Project, Convenient Art Gallery, Trails and Pathways Program, and any other projects we see fit.
The concept of placemaking is widely known and applied in other downtown, municipal jurisdictions, where there is evidence that these types of initiatives deter graffiti and enhance neighbourhood beautification. These projects will help to increase the geographic spread of public art projects within the City of Brampton and is an opportunity to potentially engage residents in multigenerational, community-engaged creation sessions.

The Benefits of a Roster
Having an artist roster ensures that we are choosing a diverse range of art practices, voices and backgrounds when selecting artists for projects. It also gives us insight in the type of mediums that artists are using, allowing us to cater future programs to the best fit of the community.
