Hello Akimbo Subscriber,

We have some exciting news to share with you – Akimbo is moving forward into its next era! As of the first of this month, Heather Kelly, of HKC Marketing, has taken over the helm of Akimbo from Kim Fullerton, its founder. As the new owner and Director of the business Heather will guide Akimbo forward into the future, while ensuring it continues to provide you with the same great art content.

“I started Akimbo 22 years ago, says Kim Fullerton, and have had a joyous adventure bringing you information about Canadian art and artists and helping to build a sense of national community. I am so grateful to have met so many of you over the years, to have heard your stories and received your feedback and input. Without you, Akimbo would not have grown into what it has become today. I am really thrilled to pass the business on to someone as passionate about art as I am. I have known Heather for two decades and know her to be incredibly dedicated to and experienced in promoting cultural events and organizations. You will know Heather as the founder of the Bloor St. Culture Corridor, co-founder of the Global Arts & Culture Sector Meetup and as the mastermind behind the launch campaigns for both the Ryerson Image Centre and Koerner Hall at the Royal Conservatory of Music. I am absolutely confident that she will continue to grow Akimbo in ways that will serve our readers and clients even more, even better! I hope you will join me in giving Heather a warm welcome.”

“I’m deeply grateful to Kim and inspired to be the new owner and Director of Akimbo,” says Heather Kelly. “Akimbo aligns with my lifelong commitment to create connections, foster professional community, and contribute to the profile, engagement, revenues, and vitality of cultural organizations. Looking ahead, Akimbo will play an active part in Canada’s arts sector reinvention and revitalization. I’m committed to upholding and advancing the company values that Kim established: accessibility, equity, and opportunity. I’m excited to collaborate with the wonderful Akimbo team, be a meaningful partner with arts organizations across Canada, and continue to bring you informative and inspiring programming, announcements, and opportunities from across the country.”

You can be confident that Akimbo will continue to connect you with arts and culture organizations and service providers across Canada, including exhibitions, talks and tours, events, services, calls for artists, job postings, and more. Akimblog will continue to publish thoughtful exhibition reviews and insightful stories about diverse artists from regions across the country.
