Regular Full-time (35 hours per week)

This is a moment of remarkable global change. At the Art Gallery of Ontario (AGO), we are exploring the possibilities of what an art museum can be—and there has never been a more exciting time to join us on this journey.

Do you believe that art has the power to spark important conversations, bring communities together and change lives? Are you energized by building relationships with people of all ages and backgrounds? Are you inspired by the idea of working in an iconic building filled with extraordinary art, innovative programs and big ideas? If so, you belong at the AGO.

As one of North America’s leading art museums, the AGO welcomes close to 1 million visitors annually and is deeply committed to making art and lifelong learning accessible to everyone. Our ambitious vision is to lead global conversations from Toronto through extraordinary collections, exhibitions and programs, and by reflecting the people who live here.

The AGO Development team is currently searching for a purpose-driven, hyper-organized and dynamic programmer/event practitioner with a passion for the visual arts to support our mission. If you are results-oriented and take pride of ownership in your work, this is your opportunity to make a meaningful impact.

As the Development Associate, Programming & Events you will partner with our team and colleagues across the organization in developing a dynamic engagement strategy designed to meaningfully connect our donors and corporate partners with the AGO’s mission and vision through extraordinary art and learning; to encourage a sense of belonging, value and community; and to inspire generous giving and loyalty over time. This position supports revenue generation activity within the Development Division through the production, communication and execution of cultivation and stewardship activities including, but not limited to in-person and virtual events, tours, international travel and other immersive experiences.

We are seeking a candidate with:

  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant experience in project management, content development, event management or programming
  • Demonstrated experience in seeing projects through from strategy to execution and measurement
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of fundraising and sponsorship best practices and trends
  • Experience with the visual arts and well developed understanding of the local arts community and global art trends

As the successful candidate, you will join a positive and committed team that supports one another, values everyone’s contributions and fosters a culture of learning and mentorship. You will get to know interesting people who balance hard work with laughter, celebration and a sense of community.

The AGO is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive workplace and building teams that reflect our community. We encourage candidates who are women, BIPOC, LGBTQ2S+ and people with disabilities to apply for this new and exciting role. If you require accommodations at any point in the hiring process, please let us know and we will be happy to provide them.

To apply for this opportunity, please submit a tailored cover letter and resume via our website: We thank all applicants, but must advise that only those selected for interviews will be contacted.
