Call for Submissions – Hoarding Artwork
Graphic Mural Design for the Exterior of a Construction Site in North Oakville
Submission Deadline: May 3, 2026
Daniels Emshih Oakvillage Corporation (Daniels Emshih) invites artists to submit proposals for a public art installation to be displayed around the perimeter of a construction site in North Oakville. The artwork design process will involve consulting with team members of Daniels Emshih on the work to arrive at a final design.
Project Description
For Daniels Emshih, each new home community is a work of art. From conception through to completion, every community is designed to enhance its surroundings, the community and to make a statement about its unique character.
The proposed art is a digital graphic mural design to be applied to construction hoarding located in North Oakville. The hoarding, surrounding an upcoming high-rise residential rental building, will be located at the corner of Postridge Dr. and Dundas St. E., east of Trafalgar Rd.
This residential building will be a connected community within a vibrant neighbourhood in North Oakville, adjacent to convenient retail. Oakville Bus Transit and easy connections to the Oakville GO Station are nearby, and residents will be in close proximity to nature, highways, top-rated schools, Sheridan College Oakville Campus, and so much more.
One artist (or artist team) will be chosen for the project. Priority will be given to artists who self-identify as:
- Having a connection to Oakville community, current or former resident, or works within the community identified
- Emerging and mid-career artists
- Diverse individuals belonging to equity-deserving groups including but not limited to members of visible minority groups, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ2S+ people
Overview:
- Only (one) digital mural/artwork is to be created.
- Artwork to be designed to height of 8 feet (based on size of lower hoarding panels) and approximately 55 feet wide.
- Artwork must be able to be repeated along sections of the hoarding.
- At the artist’s discretion, a pattern-based approach may be used so that the piece is easily scalable and can be cropped to various sizes without impacting the integrity of the piece.
- The art may also be used on the smaller, upper panels of the hoarding.
- On select panels, the artwork may frame the community messaging and partnership logo to create visual interest.
- We encourage submissions that allow for foot traffic engagement and include interactive components within the piece, using artistic elements that would compel foot traffic to stop and connect with the art.
