Call for Expressions of Interest: Permanent Public Art for Downtown Park, Mississauga

City of Mississauga – Expressions of Interest
Permanent Public Art for Downtown Park

DEADLINE: Monday, August 29, 2022, by 11:59 p.m. EDT

The City of Mississauga’s Public Art Program invites professional artists and artist-led teams to submit expressions of interest to create permanent public artwork(s) to be installed in a future downtown park, as part of the MCity development (505 Webb Drive, Mississauga, ON). This project is open to artists nationally and internationally and is funded by a voluntary contribution from Rogers Real Estate Development Limited.

The City is seeking to commission innovative art that inspires curiosity and contributes to the unique gathering space of the park and of the larger development project.

A mentorship component will be integrated into the project, with an emerging artist(s) being paired with the selected artist(s). Mentees will benefit by gaining valuable transferrable technical and project management skills, and by taking part in hands-on, experiential learning opportunities. Artists responding to this call are asked to describe their approach to integrating a mentorship component into their project.

Fabrication and installation of the artwork is expected to be completed by Fall 2024.

Submissions to this call for expressions of interest are due Monday, August 29, 2022 by 11:59 p.m. EDT.

Total budget for this project is $424,000.00 CAD + HST.

This is a two-stage selection process. To learn more about this opportunity, including Stage 1 eligibility criteria and submission requirements, visit the website and review the full Call to Artists.
