Submission Deadline: June 24, 2026, 1pm MT
Calgary Arts Development invites local, national and international mid-career public artists and artist collectives to apply for the opportunity to create new public artworks at the Belmont Fieldhouse and Library in Calgary, Alberta.
The selected artist or artist collective will create artwork for four large-scale exterior panels located along the south-facing side of the building. Each panel measures approximately 12.8 metres wide by 4.57 metres high. The project aims to create artwork that strengthens Belmont’s community identity, fosters civic pride and contributes to welcoming, inclusive public spaces.
This opportunity is open to professional artists and artist teams with demonstrated experience completing at least one public art project with a budget of $40,000 or more. Artists with experience creating large-scale or multi-panel wall-based public artwork are encouraged to apply.
The selected artist will work with Calgary Arts Development and project partners to develop and refine an original artwork concept informed by artist-led research into the Belmont community and surrounding context. The final artwork will become part of the City of Calgary Public Art Collection.
