The City of Mississauga is excited to announce the opening of its annual Resident Artist Exhibition on May 24. The exhibition, titled As It Happens, celebrates artists as a catalyst for changing discourse and as the connectors to the creative community.

On view at the Blackwood Gallery at the University of Toronto Mississauga, As It Happens, shares stories, ideas, and dialogues from the City’s Resident Artists. Featuring works from numerous artistic disciplines, including woodworking, glass, textiles, and painting, the exhibition spotlights some of the best artists working in Mississauga.

Opening Reception – May 26 from 6:30 – 8:30 pm
Come and meet the featured artists, listen to live music, and explore the exhibition at the opening reception.

Professional Development Workshop – May 28 from 11:00 am – 12:00 pm
Join Blackwood Gallery staff to learn how to prepare a successful exhibition proposal and network with artists and creatives from the communities.

About the Resident Artist Program
The City of Mississauga’s Resident Artist Program is designed to support emerging and mid-career artist and artisans in developing and maintaining their art and design practice. The program provides artists access to professionally-equipped studio spaces in the Living Arts Centre and supports artistic practices across nine disciplines.
