Register Now: Summer Programming for Kids at the Art Gallery of Burlington
Dedicated to keeping youth active and engaged in the arts this summer, the Art Gallery of Burlington (AGB) is going virtual! Every Monday & Thursday from 10:30 AM – 12:00 PM, starting Monday, June 29, the gallery goes LIVE with the AGB Kids Variety Show. Families and friends can tune in twice a week for a 90-minute live webcast hosted by an artist and musician. Each episode features a different dynamic duo who walk you through their artistic processes and workshop a project with the viewers using art and craft “ingredients” you can find at home.
Sing, make, and play alongside artists Naz Rahbar and Nima Farzaneh, Kate Jackson and Sarah Slean, Becky Katz and Evelyn Charlotte Joe, Jasmin Glaw, Noni Kaur, and more!
Whether it is learning to make your own ink with accordion accompaniment or discovering unusual art materials with banging beats, these virtual immersions bring kids directly into the personal studios of artists and allow them to fully visualize a varied range of practices. The AGB Kids Variety Show creates connections and generates discussions about traditional and experimental art production as it relates to issues around history and home, rest and meditation, and social change and cycles of life.

The AGB will be closed until further notice as part of the community-wide effort against the spread of COVID-19. When we re-open to the public Desmond A. Miller’s Aesthetics of the Archives exhibition will be on view until August 23, 2020.
Aesthetics of the Archives explores the Caribbean and European ancestry of Canadian Artist/Researcher Desmond A. Miller. Through a focus on his paternal family’s location within the Black Diaspora, Miller draws on personal, family, and institutional archives to create representations of family elders. In Aesthetics of the Archives, Miller uses poetry, photography, and textiles to disrupt linear ideas of time, trouble fixed notions of archives, and invite pathways for being in good relation with the other-than-human world.
AGB Kids Variety Show has been made possible by the generous support of Rotary Burlington Lakeshore. The Art Gallery of Burlington’s programming is supported by the Ontario Arts Council. Desmond A. Miller would like to acknowledge the support of the Toronto Arts Council.
The Art Gallery of Burlington is a public art gallery, community art centre, and studio where creators, cultures, and communities converge. It is home to the world’s largest collection of contemporary Canadian ceramics, as well as seven art and craft guilds. The AGB is proud to acknowledge that the land where it is located is part of the ancient Dish With One Spoon Treaty and also the Brant Tract Purchase, Treaty No. 3 3/4 of 1795, and it is grateful to the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation and the Six Nations of the Grand River for sharing this territory.
