Centre[3] for Artistic + Social Practice presents:

Print and Resistance: Print Media and Social Movements

Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative

August 16 – September 28, 2019
Reception: Friday September 13, (7:00 pm to 10:00 pm) during Hamilton SuperCrawl

There is a long tradition of artists as organizers and participants in movements for social justice communicating demands and goals through visual works. Print and Resistance is a survey of over a decade of thematic print portfolios produced by Justseeds Artists’ Cooperative in concert with a variety of social movements across North America. They bring together visual articulations addressing the prison industrial complex, resource extraction, migration, reproductive justice, anti-war organizing, systemic poverty, and the climate crisis.

With members working from the U.S., Canada, and Mexico, Justseeds operates as a unified collaboration of similarly minded printmakers, as well as a loose collection of creative individuals with unique viewpoints and working methods. We believe in the transformative power of personal expression in concert with collective action.

Accessibility:
Our 173 James North location is partially physically accessible. We have a level entrance leading to our shop, information desk, galleries, washroom and traditional print studio. Unfortunately, we do not have automatic doors or an elevator. Our silkscreen studios and digital lab are only accessible by stairs. We are working toward becoming a physically accessible space in the future.
