About the Community Arts Guild
The Community Arts Guild builds community through making art. We are a non-profit arts organization situated in the vibrant East Scarborough neighbourhood. We spark collaborations between professional artists and people of all ages and backgrounds with different levels of artistic experience, and confidence. Through art-making we realize the creative potential of people and places, and form new connections and understanding between those who may not otherwise meet. Our artwork is often performance-based, and we collaborate across disciplines and traditions, particularly exploring intersections of performance and design. Beginning in 2008 as a Jumblies Theatre residency, the Community Arts grew into an independent Scarborough-based community arts organization, under the artistic direction of Beth Helmers until 2025, and now continuing with an Interim leadership team, who are producing this Plots & Patches event.
Community Arts Guild gratefully acknowledges the support of Scarborough Arts, Canada Council for the Arts | Conseil des arts du Canada, Ontario Arts Council – Conseil des arts de l’Ontario, Toronto Arts Council, City of Toronto Culture, Metcalf Foundation, Canada Summer Jobs.
