Experience the beauty of Toronto’s most beloved green spaces in a whole new way featuring a multi-disciplinary collaboration between musicians of the Labyrinth Ensemble (Sadaf Amini, Yang Chen, Roa Lee, Naomi McCarroll-Butler, Sasan Salaseli, Araz Salek) and Mani Mazinani and Sanaz Mazinani’s larger-than-life stringed installation, Dastgāh.

Dastgāh introduces musical intervals found in traditional Maqam practice, the modal music system stretching between northwestern China and the Balkans to North Africa, decentering the 12 tones used in classical and contemporary music. This collaborative performance with Labyrinth Ensemble musicians highlights the artwork’s physical and emotional resonance through the intricate and compelling playing of the Ensemble, who specialize in exploring beyond the musical content and practices of Western music.
