Join the Urban Shaman team as we transition into our new space at Market Lands in Winnipeg, Manitoba – on Treaty 1 Territory. We have two open positions for a Programs Assistant and Outreach Coordinator and are looking for applicants with gallery experience, project management skills, and community connections.

We have a great benefits package and operate on a 4 day work-week! Indigenous applicants are encouraged to self-identify.

The Organization:

Urban Shaman Contemporary Indigenous Art is a charitable, not-for-profit artist-run centre located on Treaty 1 territory in Winnipeg, Manitoba. Urban Shaman is an Indigenous led gallery that presents contemporary Indigenous art with integrity while remaining rooted in diverse Indigenous culture.

Founded in 1996, Urban Shaman continues to be a nationally recognized leader in Indigenous arts programming and one of the foremost venues and voices for Indigenous art in Canada. Urban Shaman is dedicated to the Indigenous arts community and arts community at large.

The Positions:

Programs Assistant
Supports the coordination and administration of exhibitions, adjunct programming, residencies, and publications.

  • Position Type: Full Time, Permanent (contingent on continued funding after 18th month period)
  • Start Date: July 17, 2026
  • Salary: $50,000/yr ($32.05/hr)
  • Hours: 30 hours per week (4 day work-week)

Outreach Coordinator
Leads Urban Shaman’s communications, outreach, and promotional activities.

  • Position Type: Full Time, Permanent (contingent on continued funding after 18th month period)
  • Start Date: August 12, 2026
  • Salary: $45,000/yr ($31.25/hr)
  • Hours: 30 hours per week (4 day work-week)
  • Deadline: July 17, 2026
