The Perks

Working closely with Lisa Anita Wegner is a benefit of this role, offering direct mentorship, a collaborative creative atmosphere, and an inside look into a thriving, multi-faceted art practice.

We are currently spinning a lot of plates, including Elsewhere, a major immersive public art project! This role is an invitation to work in a vibrant creative ecosystem alongside:

  • Creative partner Eric Rose, Artistic Director of Ghost River Theatre and renowned multi-sensory storytelling specialist
  • Sage Lovell and Deaf Spectrum, Creative collaborators & consultants
  • David Bobier & Jim Ruxton of VibraFusionLab, Tech partners pioneering tactile audio and haptic arts
  • Producer and associate artist Jennie Esdale
  • Lisa’s grant writer and creative team

Lisa was born with hyper-mobile Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome (hEDS), an invisible and severe cluster of symptoms affecting all aspects of life including her cognitive ability. We ensure accessibility is woven inherently into everything we do—from research straight through to the final presentation.

What You’ll Be Doing (The Deliverables)

We are looking for someone enthusiastic, active, strong, and highly self-sufficient who can take a task, run with it, and see it through to completion without supervision. Excellent, proactive, and gracious communication is the glue that keeps our team happy and moving forward.

  • Elsewhere Studio Visits: Working with our producer to coordinate scheduling, tech setups, and support Lisa for studio visits and artist talks with visiting curators, programmers, partners, and consultants.
  • Archiving Elsewhere: Organizing a multi-format archive spanning digital and film files, photos, paintings, physical artifacts, historical papers, and performance documentations. A core part of this is stewarding and recording the copious fictitious history of The Dada Family and the Haus of Dada, which holds Dadaheim, Dadovia, the artist’s micronation.
  • Keeping the Studio Humming: Supporting Lisa while taking as many administrative tasks off her plate as possible.
  • Logistics & Errands: Sourcing and transporting materials, running local errands, coordinating local installations.
  • Must Love Dogs: Lilli is Lisa’s terrier who is a fixture at Haus of Dada.

Workload & Timing

Your hours are largely self-directed—you manage your own time and tools to hit the monthly goals we come up with together. We want someone with additional availability preceding major milestones, residencies, shoot days, artist talks, screenings, or public installations. This will scale up during funded activities which we plan far in advance.

Who You Are

  • The Ideal Fit: An art student, emerging artist, curator, art administrator or filmmaker looking for hands-on experience and invaluable industry connections. Open to other backgrounds if you learn fast and match the energy.
  • A True Self-Starter: You are self-sufficient, highly reliable, and love the satisfaction of crossing finished tasks off a list independently.
  • A Gracious Communicator: You are warm, active, responsive, and know how to communicate clearly and kindly with a diverse team and external arts professionals.
  • Accessibility Aligned: You have a deep respect for, alignment with, or interest in creative accessibility frameworks like Wegner’s Access First/ Access Poetics.
  • Bonus Points: Fluency or proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) is an asset given our work with Deaf Spectrum. A valid Ontario Driver’s License is also an asset (access to a vehicle can be provided for errands).
