TORONTO, May 22, 2026 – CIBC is pleased to announce Cindy Hill and Miguel Caba as this year’s C² Art Program recipients, a paid opportunity that empowers emerging artists to bring their creative visions to life.

Cindy Hill is a Montreal-based artist whose sculpture work uses found objects and textiles to examine the relationship between our material world and perceptions of the body.

“I am honoured and grateful to be selected for this program,” said Hill. “As an emerging artist, it’s incredible to have the support of organizations like CIBC, allowing artists to keep creating work that contributes to and shapes critical conversations.”

Miguel Caba is a Canadian artist based in Toronto and Boston whose practice spans painting, print, and sculpture, exploring how experiences and relationships are shaped by distance and technology.

“With the support of CIBC, I am grateful to have the opportunity to create a new body of work in Toronto,” said Caba. “I’m excited to work with the team over the coming months on this exhibition and am honoured to have the chance to present this work to the public.”

Each artist will produce a new body of work culminating in a solo exhibition at CIBC SQUARE in Toronto, where it will be on view to team members, clients, and the public.

“Cindy and Miguel each bring a distinct and compelling voice to the C² Art Program, and we’re privileged to play a role in their next chapter,” said Andrew Greenlaw, Senior Vice-President, Brand, Community and Client Experience, CIBC. “Investing in emerging artists is one of the ways we contribute to the cultural fabric of the communities we serve.”

Entering its fourth year, the C² Art Program continues to support emerging artists in evolving their practice and career. To learn more about the C² Art Program and past recipients, please visit the website.

About the Artists:

Cindy Hill is an artist based in Montreal, Canada. Her work uses found objects and textiles to examine the relationship between our material world and perceptions of the body. Working through sculpture, Hill reflects on the history of health and sexuality amongst women, re-contextualizing objects used to treat and care for the body. Engaging with themes of intimacy, care, and desire, she draws from personal experiences to explore the complexities of bodily and feminist discourses.

Recent solo exhibitions include Mirror-Reverse at Pumice Raft in Toronto, and A bell I never hear at Centre Clark, Montreal (CA). Recent group exhibitions include Entanglements at MAMA Projects in New York (USA), Aujourd’hui je pleure parce que at Pangée, Montreal (CA), and Please be gentle at the Plumb in Toronto (CA). She has completed residencies at Wiels in Brussels (BE), the International Studio and Curatorial Program (ISCP) in New York (USA), Cité Internationale des Arts in Paris (FR). Hill holds an MFA from the University of Guelph and a BFA from Concordia University.

Miguel Caba is a Canadian artist based in Toronto, Canada and Boston, USA with a BFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts at Tufts University. Their work exists between painting, print, and sculpture, as they explore how experiences and relationships are mediated through distance and technology. Inspired by Balikbayan boxes, Caba’s works exist between here and there–simultaneously intimate and distant–echoing a sense of longing for home and gestures of travel.

Recently, they were selected as a Boston Artadia 2025 Finalist, and have been a recipient of the Massachusetts Cultural Council Grant for Creative Individuals, the Elizabeth Greenshields Grant and Jeffrey Ahn Jr. Fellowship. They have also been featured in New American Paintings, Mister Magazine, and Sculpture Magazine. Caba has exhibited in the US at Mills Gallery (Boston), Chorus Projects (Brooklyn), and Abigail Ogilvy Gallery (Los Angeles), Tufts University Art Galleries (Boston), OVERLAP (Newport) and Unbound Visual Arts (Boston), and in Canada at the Art Museum at the University of Toronto, Xpace Cultural Centre (Toronto), Gallery 44 (Toronto), and Mark Christopher Gallery (Toronto).
