About us:
photoED Magazine shares diverse Canadian photography stories in a brand new light. We are the ONLY Canadian independent editorial photography publication on newsstands.
PhotoED Magazine’s third edition of 2022 will be curated by Peppa Martin, of thecommotion.ca, and will feature work of photographers exploring lens-based BOTANICAL themes.
We’re looking for the most unique, innovative and diverse interpretations of this theme to be published in print, and online.
Submission Deadline: September 19, 2022
We are looking to PUBLISH – in print and online:
- Well considered submissions. This is a project/ idea that you have laboured over and feel that the curator of this edition needs to see.
- Fine art – Not stock photography
- Original artistic works
- Diverse interpretations on our theme that challenges us to see the botanical world around us in a new way
- Existing projects/works only. This is not a call for commissions.
Submissions are open to:
- Students, emerging photographers, as well as established pro’s are all welcome!
- photoED PATREON PATRONS and subscribers to our PRINT editions submit their work for FREE as community members, and they will automatically receive their print copy of the BOTANICAL edition when it’s printed in November, 2022.
- NON-Subscribers can participate with a $12.CDN submission fee. This is also an issue PRE-SALE that covers our cost to send you a SINGLE copy of the publication when it is released in November.
Image Requirements:
- Up to 10 image files can be uploaded (Jpeg/ Tiff/ pdfs) per submission, MAX 2 submissions per person.
- Can be low-res or high-res (up to you – we will contact you directly if your submission is successful for your approval, and more detailed information about your work)
- File names MUST include your FIRST AND LAST NAME, ie: sam-smith-photo1.jpg, sam-smith-photo2.jpg…
NOTE:
As always, we aim to make the submissions process accessible – if you are experiencing financial hardship and can not meet these fee/ entry requirements, but have work that our team needs to consider – drop us a line, HERE. Accommodations can easily be made.
Submitting to PhotoED Magazine does not transfer any rights of ownership – the photographer retains full rights. We do not ask for exclusivity and the photographer is free to submit the image to any other publication/ project or exhibition. The owner of the photograph(s) allows us the rights to publish and promote their work with credit, via our print and digital platforms. By submitting, the photographer acknowledges that they have full rights to the images and has obtained proper releases where warranted.
Canada based artists selected for the PRINT publication are subject to receive additional printed copies of the publication, and an Artist Honorarium to be determined at the time of publishing, based on page count allocation of the featured work.
