Call for Submissions: New Vistas 2023 – Next Steps Juried Exhibition

New Vistas is a project presented by Humber College’s Arts Administration and Cultural Management Program, in partnership with the City of Toronto. The goal of the program is to hold a month-long gallery exhibit at ECCAG in tandem with a performance at Assembly Hall in December that supports artists from equity deserving communities (focus on IBPOC, deaf, persons with disabilities and 2SLGBTQIA+).

This year, the open call for a juried art exhibition at the ECCAG encouraging applications from emerging* Toronto-based artists to submit visual artworks of all mediums that respond to the theme “Next Steps.” For details, see the application form.

There will be an honorarium for the artists.

*Emerging artists are herein described as artists in the early stages of their professional career who have produced a small body of work and achieved some local recognition and/or have limited public exhibition experience.

Submission Deadline: November 17, 2023, 11:59 pm EST
Exhibition: December 6, 2023 – January 17, 2024
Opening Reception: December 10, 2023, 2-4 pm EST

Who can apply?

  • Emerging artists*, 18+, from equity-seeking communities, with a focus on IBPOC, Newcomers, Deaf, persons with disabilities, and 2SLGBTQIA+.
  • Artists with connections to Toronto: who live, work, or play in the Greater Toronto Area.

About the Gallery
Etobicoke Civic Centre Art Gallery hosts 10 shows annually with exhibitions showcasing emerging and established visual artists/art groups by providing diverse, accessible, inclusive, and professional gallery spaces. The gallery is owned and operated by the City of Toronto, Arts Services, and is programmed by a dedicated gallery committee.

The gallery is a public space, displaying artworks in the halls and foyer on the main floor of the Etobicoke Civic Centre and is filled with large windows providing natural light throughout the day.
