Call for Submissions – Lumière: The Art of Light 2027

Open Call for Ontario Artists

Submission Deadline: September 18, 2026 at 11:59pm ET

Lumière: The Art of Light will temporarily transform Trillium Park at Ontario Place in February and March, 2027. This free exhibition invites Ontario artists to explore light as a creative medium under the theme “Structures of Light.” This theme focuses on installations where light serves as the primary artistic medium, shaping form, structure, and spatial experience.

Installations will be selected for their ability to read as sculptural elements during the day and reveal their full expression through illumination after dark. Simple, intuitive interactive elements that allow visitors to activate or influence the work may be incorporated.

Submissions will only be accepted from Ontario-based applicants.

All submissions must include the following information:

• Artist information, including applicant CV and biographical statement
• Concept & Design that ties into the curatorial theme including Mockup or Render
• Materials List and Technical Specifications
• Production, Maintenance and Safety Plan
• Budget
• Proof of Insurance
• Location Preference

Tips for Submitting:

• Review all the criteria and info provided when building a submission to ensure all requirements have been met.
• Installations are site specific, and familiarization with the site is invaluable to creating a successful proposal. Book a site tour by emailing oplumiere@ontario.ca.
