Woodland Cultural Centre is pleased to announce the Call for Submissions for Indigenous Art 2026: 51st Annual Juried Exhibition.

Woodland Cultural Centre’s Annual Indigenous Art Exhibition was established in 1975, one of the longest-running multimedia exhibitions that provide artists with an opportunity to exhibit and sell their work in a fine art gallery setting. The invitation is open to all emerging, mid-career and established artists of First Nations, Métis and Inuit ancestry. The annual exhibition features upcoming talents as well as established artists from Turtle Island, offering unique and powerful voices in Indigenous arts.

Artists may submit up to three works of art. All media will be accepted and works must be original and completed within the last two years. WCC’s Guest Curator, Alex Jacobs-Blum, Gayogo̱hó꞉nǫʼ (Cayuga), wolf clan, will adjudicate the submissions with a group of selected jurors. There is no entry fee per submission. Artists are given an honorarium and one copy of the exhibition catalogue.

Type of Submissions

  • Painting in any media (indicate oil, acrylic, watercolour, mixed media etc.)
  • New media (indicate computer animation, video art, etc.)
  • Drawings and prints including photographic in any media (indicate graphite, ink, coloured pencil, digital or silver photographic print etc.)
  • Sculpture in any media (indicate ceramic, wood, stone, metal, bone etc.)
  • Installation (please include plans, images, technical requirements and AV equipment)
  • Traditionally based works (indicate glass beading, quillwork, leather-works, baskets, quilts etc.)

How to Enter
Digital Submission Guidelines:

  • Hi-res images and files can be submitted through this form, or physically via jpegs, CD* or USB* [*will not be returned] and include an image list indicating title, year, medium, dimensions (H x W x D), # of edition, if applicable and include insurance value and indicate if work is for Sale or NFS.
  • Complete and sign entry form.
  • Include 100 – 150-word biography and max. 300-word Artist Statement.
  • Upon delivery, works must have identification labels attached.
  • Artworks previously exhibited at WCC are not eligible.
  • Artworks must have been completed in the last two years.
  • Works must be framed and ready to hang, inclusive of D-rings, wire, gravity bar, magnets, speciality stand, etc. New media works must include all technical instructions and AV equipment in working order—to be provided by the artist. Installation works must include drawings, diagrams, instructions, material list, placement. Any additional special instructions for any media including jewellery items must be included.

Only up to three works of art may be submitted per artist.
There is no entry fee per submission.
