Call for Art, Event & Workshop Submissions

Call for Art:

Micak Contemporary Art Gallery is a commercial gallery located in Aurora, Ontario that opened in November 2024. We are currently seeking submissions from early, mid-career and professional individual artists or collectives for the exhibition and sale of original art, craft or design objects for our gallery and boutique. Artists working in painting, drawing, sculpture, print, ceramics, glass, textiles, digital (plus more!) are welcome to apply.

Micak Contemporary will also consider non-commercial artwork for an annual exhibition of installation, ephemeral or conceptual work. We welcome individual or collections to apply for this opportunity. Please indicate in your application if you would like to be considered for non-commercial exhibition.

Details:

• Submission should include 10 images of completed artwork
• All media will be considered ​
• Include CV, website and contact information
• All submitted work must be hang-ready; framed, wired, etc.
• Accepted works will be displayed and sold on a consignment basis, with a 50/50 commission split on any sales
• Please note that the gallery is unable to cover the costs of artwork shipping. All associated expenses will be the responsibility of the artist​.

Call for Event & Workshop Proposals:

Micak Contemporary is accepting proposals for events, workshops, short-term exhibition rentals*, screenings, performances, talks/conferences, or any creative way to activate the gallery space.

Submissions should include a brief project description or proposal, any technical or specific requirements, relevant support materials (images, links, past works), CV and contact information.

Please note: Some event-based proposals—such as workshops, performances, or private gatherings—may be considered rentals and could be subject to a rental fee or revenue-sharing agreement. Rental costs and details will be discussed on an individual basis upon acceptance.

Project Requirements:

*Exhibition rental fees will be determined during the submission process and may vary based on several factors.

Eligibility:

We are currently seeking submissions from early, mid-career and professional individual artists or collectives for the exhibition and sale of original art, craft or design objects for our gallery and boutique. All mediums are welcome to apply.

Compensation:

All artworks are taken in on a consignment basis. All sales will be split 50 / 50 with artists. Some commission split exceptions may apply.

Selection Process:

Submissions will be reviewed by gallery director/ curator, Katie Micak. Interviews or follow up questions may apply before acceptance.

*Given the volume of submissions, only chosen artists will receive a response.

Artist should expect to hear back no later than September 10, 2025.

Exhibition documentation of Data as Material: New works by Jordan Shaw, July 3 – 19, 2025.

Submission Requirements:

Submissions must include JPEG images, artwork descriptions, and the following details:

• Title
• Medium
• Size / Duration
• Year
• Retail Price
• Provenance (if applicable)

Boutique Submissions: Micak Contemporary’s Boutique shows hand-made original art and crafts under $200 retail. We will consider a wide range of submissions for our Boutique.
