Call for Submissions – Hoarding Artwork
Graphic Mural Design (to be printed on vinyl) for the Exterior of a Construction Site in Brampton

Daniels MPV 2 Corporation invites artists to submit proposals for artwork to be displayed around the perimeter of a construction site in Brampton. The submission process will involve consulting with the Daniels team on the design of the work to arrive at a final concept.

PROJECT
The proposed art is a graphic mural design (to be printed on vinyl) applied to construction hoarding located in the Mount Pleasant Village community in Brampton.

This new community will be located at the northwest corner of Bovaird Drive and Creditview Road, south of Lagerfeld Drive in Brampton. MPV2 is a beacon of low-carbon living in the heart of Brampton’s Mount Pleasant Village. Designed with Daniels’ whole-life carbon commitment, this ground-breaking community will ensure a long-lasting positive impact on the environment.

MPV2 is the first phase of Daniels’ 19-acre, low-carbon master-planned community located at Bovaird Drive W. and Mississauga Road, only a short walk or bike ride to the Mount Pleasant GO Station. This revolutionary community will feature condominium suites utilizing geoexchange, an energy efficient system that utilizes the Earth as a thermal battery to provide low-carbon heating and cooling, and Net-Zero, fossil fuel-free townhomes utilizing all-electric systems including rooftop solar panels that generate renewable energy.

The artwork on the hoarding will be located on the south side of the site on Bovaird Drive.

Priority will be given to artists who self-identify as:

  • Having a connection to Brampton/Mount Pleasant Village community
  • Emerging & mid-career artists
  • Diverse individuals belonging to equity-deserving groups including but not limited to members of visible minority groups, Indigenous Peoples, persons with disabilities, and LGBTQ2S+ communities

ARTWORK LOCATION & SIZE:
On the south side of the site on Bovaird St, visible to passing traffic.

The mural/artwork will be next to promotional information about the associated community.

Only one (1) piece of artwork is to be designed, suitable for printing at the following size: 25 ft x 8 ft height = 200 sq. Ft

Artwork may be repeated on either end of the overall hoarding to bookend the overall hoarding creative.

GUIDELINES:
Desired concept for the mural:

  • Sustainability/living sustainably
  • Connectivity (living close to GO transit, parks nearby)
  • Living in Brampton’s first and largest low-carbon community

The selected artist will be required to provide the final approved file in the following format (note: not required for the proposal, but selected Artist must ultimately be able to supply final Artwork per below):

  • File must be 100 dpi at full size (as-is)
  • Generally backboards are 8 ft tall = 96 inches/2540mm (allow for bleed of additional 2 inches all four sides). We will be fabricating with either alupanel or creazon, both of which come in 4 ft w x 8 ft H panels (48 in wide or 25.4mm).
  • Hoarding is rarely if ever level. When designing, bear-in-mind that grade will affect installation. Generally, installation will involve running a plumb line horizontally from one side to the other. We use this line to centre any specific copy. There may be some stepping down of graphics to accommodate the grade. If possible, design in shorter lengths of (4 ft w, 8 ft w) helps to hide or minimize any stepping down of the graphics.
  • As your files will be large, please supply files by a service such as Wetransfer, in jpeg or tiff format for reproduction.
  • All imagery is produced in 4 colour process – no option to pantone match. Ultimately we will endeavour to maintain the colours of your original creative and strive for pleasing colour overall.

Daniels’ marketing agency will be responsible for colour proofing and installation of hoarding, and will endeavour to maintain original colour as closely as possible within the limitations of the print process. Files will be converted to CMYK for printing purposes on outdoor vinyl.
