Call for Nominations: City of Hamilton 2021 Arts Awards

A Renewed Arts Awards program for 2021

Citizens are encouraged to nominate their favourite artists, arts community leaders or supporters for the 2021 Arts Awards program. Each year the City celebrates the outstanding achievements of its local artists with cash awards and civic recognition.

Based on feedback from the community, a new program is being piloted that makes it much easier to nominate! New, more flexible award categories reflect Hamilton’s evolving arts community and provide opportunities to recognize volunteers for their invaluable contributions.

Nominations are welcomed from communities across Hamilton in the following 3 award categories:

Lifetime Achievement
Creator Awards (all artistic disciplines – now includes bands & collectives and emerging artists)
Arts Champion Awards (arts sector volunteers and community builders)

Why Nominate Someone for an Arts Award?

Shortlisted nominees in all categories receive:

Promotion through social and print media
Opportunity to celebrate their nomination through personal and professional networks
Civic recognition

If selected in their category through a peer adjudication process: Creator and Lifetime Achievement recipients are awarded a bronze medallion and $2,500 cash. Arts Champions receive an artist-designed recognition piece.

Founded in 1976, the City of Hamilton Arts Awards is one of the oldest municipal-led arts awards programs in Canada. Recognizing the vital contribution that artists make to Hamilton, the Arts Awards provide an opportunity to celebrate the achievements of individual artists, educators, arts managers and volunteers who engage and participate in the arts.
