Call for Indigenous Expressions of Interest: Plant Illustrations, City of Surrey
Artist Call (Community Art) – Plant Illustrations
Application Deadline: February 15, 2024
Design Fee: Artist to provide quote per illustration
The City of Surrey is inviting expressions of interest to produce a series of eight illustrations of plants native to Surrey. These illustrations will play a key role in educational materials promoting awareness of biodiversity in our urban forest.
The City of Surrey’s Parks Division actively involves thousands of residents in community planting events and other stewardship initiatives each year. Featuring these illustrations in our school programs, public displays, and interpretive signage will help raise the profile of these plants and build familiarity among Surrey’s residents. Being able to recognize the plants growing in our communities strengthen our sense of place and relationship with the natural world.
The artwork should accurately depict the identifying features of the individual plants while incorporating elements of Indigenous visual language.
The call is open to artists of a Coast Salish First Nation and artists in the Urban Indigenous Community in Surrey, BC.
Deadline for application is February 15, 2024
