A Call for Submissions for a Unique Porsche Project

Porsche Cars Canada, Ltd. is thrilled to extend an invitation to talented artists in our community to participate in an opportunity that celebrates art, innovation, and automotive excellence. For this project, artists and collectives are tasked with crafting a permanent outdoor sculpture to adorn the northeast corner of the Porsche Experience Centre Toronto (PEC), set to open its doors in 2024.

About the Project
The chosen artist or collective will be granted a budget of $300,000 CAD toward creating an iconic piece in their vision. This budget will cover artist fees, taxes, detailed renderings, materials, technical consultations, fabrication, installation, insurance, travel, and more.

Though only one artist will be chosen to realize their original concept, all short-listed artists will receive $1,500.00 (+HST) for their submission of a complete design proposal.

The Artistic Approach
For this project, artists are encouraged to design a piece to reflect the sustainable practices of Porsche, their rich motorsport heritage, and the PEC’s location in Pickering, Ontario. The artwork should resonate with our diverse audience, including Porsche enthusiasts, corporate partners, and the broader community.

Why Porsche?
Porsche has been synonymous with performance, precision, and timeless design. With approximately 20,000 anticipated visitors yearly, this collaboration presents a chance for you to leave a lasting impression on visitors to the PEC.

Submission Process
To be considered for this project, your Expression of Interest (EOI) must be submitted by November 17, 2023, and should contain the following:

• Your CV
• An artist statement
• Up to ten images of your work (with descriptive captions)
• Examples of relevant experience
• Names and contact information for two references

Note: At this stage, design proposals should not be shared. Only shortlisted artists will be asked to submit a conceptual design proposal.

Shortlisting
By December 8, 2023, shortlisted artists will be chosen by a Selection Committee and will be invited to submit a conceptual design proposal by January 12, 2024. A detailed Terms of Reference project document will be provided to assist shortlisted artists in preparing their proposals.
