ABOUT THE PROJECT:
“The more I learn about people, the more I like my dog.”
– MARK TWAIN
Following on its highly successful CAT Show of last summer, the Aird Gallery invites submissions for their upcoming exhibition DOG DAYS.
Jonathan Swift suggested that every dog has its day and the Aird Gallery is celebrating those days this summer. We have lived with dogs for thousands of years. Over time dogs have adapted themselves to our needs and desires and at the same time, they have been changing us – largely for the better. Our deep and complex relationship with dogs, on a personal, cultural, and biological level, has been an important subject for art practice from the beginning.
DOG DAYS invites entries of dog-themed work of all kinds from artists at all stages of their careers.
We are interested in works that explore dogs as emotional and physical supports, domestic companions, family members, mythic beings, and cultural symbols. We’re interested in mutts of all kinds as well as pedigreed pooches.
There will be prizes for the best in the show.
