Call for Artists and Makers: Spring 2023 Barns Art Market
Calling all artists, creatives and makers! Apply now for the Artscape Wychwood Barns BAM Spring Market on May 27th!
The Barns Arts Market aims to support local talent within the community. If you’re an artist, creator, or maker, Artscape encourages you to participate! Come set up alongside other local exhibitors and take part!

Who can participate?
Artscape tenants and local artists and makers (Toronto) are welcome to apply as exhibitors in the BAM. There will be 30 booth spaces available at each market.
Through BAM Arts Market, Artscape encourages and welcomes people from all experiences, inclusive of race, religion, Indigenous status, ethnicity, sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, mental and physical ability, caregiver status, housing status, place of origin, age and all other statuses protected by the Canadian Human Rights Act.
Artscape encourages applications from those that represent the full diversity of communities in Canada, including complexities of intersecting identities such as ability, class, gender, race and sexual orientation. Barns Art Market Exhibitor Application requirements include:
- Full contact information
- Artist statement – 100 words or less
- Artist biography – 75 words or less
- A minimum of five images and no more than ten images of recent work that are representative of work to be exhibited in the show. Please note that the submitted images could be used for the purposes of event promotion and/or media.
- Images and/or plan of booth design or examples of past booths
- Artscape and BAM encourage applications from those that represent the full diversity of communities in Canada, including complexities of intersecting identities such as ability, class, gender, race, and sexual orientation. Exhibitors for the Barns Art Market are chosen by a selection committee or jury including a WAAB member, Artscape tenant and a community member. Artists selected to participate in the Barns Art Market will be notified between April 3-5th. Upon acceptance of the offer and confirmation of participation, you will be issued an invoice to pay your registration fee. Payment can be made by credit card or cheque.
Saturday, May 27th, 2023 10:00am – 3:00pm
Exhibitors must be present at their booth for all of the advertised hours of the exhibition. A friend or family member may also tend the booth for short periods.
Is there a fee for the space?
The registration fee to participate is $150.00 + HST
Fees will be collected once confirmation of participation is sent and approved. The registration fee does not include tables, furniture and chairs.
Tables and chairs are available to rent for a fee. Please indicate in your application if you would like to request furniture rentals. The rental fee will be included in your registration invoice.
Showcasing & Selling Your Work
Exhibitors must showcase and sell work from the media category indicated in their applications and represented by the supporting images provided with the application. Please note that if you would like to showcase or sell work from another media category, it must be submitted for review by the selection committee. You are not permitted to display or sell work of other artist(s) or any other products that are not your original creations.
Deadline for Submissions: Wednesday, March 22nd, 2022 11:59pm.
All applicants will be contacted between April 3-5th with a confirmation email and next steps.
The Artscape Wychwood Barns facility is fully accessible by Ontario standards.

Artscape is made up of a group of not-for-profit organizations with a mission to make space for creativity and transform communities though real estate development; property management; performance and event services; consulting and knowledge exchange; artistic programming and community animation; and creative entrepreneurship development.
The Wychwood Barns Art Advisory Board and Residential Tenant Association is actively engaged in ensuring fair and equal access to artist live/work tenants and guests at Artscape Wychwood Barns. They are focused on four key initiatives, Revenue, Safety, Building Rejuvenation and Diversity/Inclusion.
