Call for Applications: Yukon School of Visual Arts 2023-24 Foundation Year Program
A Unique Art School Experience in the North
Now accepting applications for 2023-24
Deadline to apply: March 31, 2023
Run by artists, the Yukon School of Visual Arts (YSOVA) is a unique visual arts school located in the sub-arctic community Dawson City, Yukon, situated within the Traditional Territory of the Tr’ondëk Hwëch’in.
Each year, YSOVA offers up to 15 students a chance to join our rigorous and fully accredited 8-month Foundation Year Program.
After graduation Yukon SOVA Foundation Year students can complete their BFAs at our partner schools across Canada. Yukon SOVA is part of the Applied Arts Division of Yukon University and receives its academic accreditation through the University.
The Foundation Year Program at YSOVA might be for you if:
- You have an arts practice but haven’t attended art school and would like to expand your visual arts skills and gain a better understanding of contemporary art and artists.
- You are a high school student who is serious about studying art and are considering applying to a college or university art/design program but would like a first-year experience in a small, attentive program before attending a larger institution.
- You want to spend a winter in a small, subarctic, artist community and are open to learning how to be a respectful guest on Trʼondëk Hwëchʼin Territory.
Yukon SOVA is an incredibly unique option for your first year of art school, or a great place to start working as an artist!
