Studio Visits and Networking with Artists from Southwest Asia, and North and East Africa in Ontario, Canada

Curatorial Research by Fatma Hendawy Yehia
Application Deadline: August 15, 2024

This project invites artists originally from the SWANA region and East Africa to reinterpret and reimagine the notion of “adaptation” through their lived experiences of migration and/or living between two different places (their home countries and Canada).

The participating artists will get the chance to discuss their previous work and work in progress in a more playful context. The studio visits and interviews will be carried out while walking, eating or other activities approved by the artists and the curator. The outcome of this research will allow each artist to contribute to a publication in variable formats like writing, illustration, images of their artworks or any relevant representation.

This project will take place in Toronto and other cities in Ontario depending on where the participating artists reside.
