Job Type: Contract position, part-time, flexible hours (benefits plan available)
Compensation: Salary is negotiable based on experience and contracted hours

About the Role:

As Artistic Director, you will co-lead the gallery’s vision and operations, forming part of a shared leadership model. You will collaborate closely with the Administrative Director and engage with a seasoned programming and administrative team. Along with our Board of Directors, and a network of community partners, supporters, and funders you will elevate the gallery’s stature and impact.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Curate and direct innovative exhibitions and manage the Permanent Collection.
  • Play a pivotal role in strategic decision-making in tandem with the Administrative Director and the Board. Including writing grant proposals.
  • Engage with community partners to enhance gallery outreach and impact.
  • Supervise and mentor a dedicated team, fostering a culture of creativity and excellence.


  • Advanced degree in Fine Arts, Art History, or related fields.
  • Demonstrated experience working in an art gallery, especially in a curatorial role.
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills in a shared governance model.
  • Proven experience in building relationships with community partners and funders.
  • Criminal record check required for employment.

Shared Leadership and Community Engagement:

  • Integral part of a dynamic duo with the Administrative Director, shaping the gallery’s future.
  • Active participant in Board meetings, offering artistic insights to guide governance decisions.
  • Develop and nurture relationships with key community stakeholders, fostering a supportive network for the gallery.
