Presented in celebration of rare’s 25th anniversary, this special initiative brings together nature-inspired photographic artworks in a 10-day online exhibition. Art lovers, collectors and supporters can browse, bid and discover unique pieces while supporting conservation.

Whether you’re drawn to striking photography, compelling visual storytelling, or the protection of environmentally sensitive lands, A rare Find showcases a thoughtfully curated collection by Renann Isaacs, with each generously donated work offering its own creative voice and story.

Bidding is simple and accessible online, allowing you to participate from anywhere during the auction. Every bid offers the chance to take home remarkable art while supporting rare’s work to protect over 1,550 acres of environmentally sensitive land and the species that call it home—now and for generations to come.

About rare

rare is a community-based urban land trust and environmental institute that protects over 1,550 acres of natural lands across ten locations in Waterloo Region and Wellington County. Conservation is our priority, promoting a biodiverse and sustainable world for everyone’s health and wellbeing, now and for the future.

Everything is connected—as a land trust and environmental institute, rare’s ultimate goal is to make the world a more sustainable place. We do this by making the environment relevant in people’s lives through conservation, research and education in ways that are inclusive of different worldviews and all forms of inquiry. This includes interdisciplinary art programming such as the Eastern Comma Artist-in-Residence, the Question Mark Fellowship and The Long Dash Festival, all delivered in partnership with The Musagetes Foundation. Through these growing art programs, rare engages artists and communities in critical inquiry, knowledge exchange and reflection on human–environment relationships.

About the Curator

Renann Isaacs was born into the Toronto Art Scene and has surrounded herself with art ever since. Her father, an art dealer, was one of the first people to open a contemporary art gallery in Canada. Her mother, an actress, was a featured player in over 30 CBC productions.

The first part of Renann’s career involved purchasing, selling and curating collections for the Isaacs/Innuit Gallery. The second involved the creation and publication of a Toronto art and gallery guide.

The third involved starting her own band, writing and singing songs, while making it onto the cover of several magazines and into the hearts of music critics. The fourth involved opening her own gallery, which specifically focused on local, regional, national and internationally known Canadian artists.

Now semi-retired (and gallery-free), she is concentrating her full attention on promoting Canadian art globally.
