Over the last ten years, the 10X10 Photography Project has shined a light on a vibrant and diverse queer community, thanks to the efforts of its founder and curator James Fowler. For each iteration, the project features 100 new portraits of LGBTQI arts and cultural figures in Canada as seen through the lenses of ten queer lens-based artists. Previously a staple of visual arts programming at the Gladstone Hotel during Pride Toronto celebrations, 10X10 is proudly hosted by the Art Gallery of Mississauga for its tenth and final instalment. This year’s exhibition includes work by Thomas Brasch, Kim Fullerton, Ashley Iris Gill, Vince Ha, Kalmplex, Wade Muir, Public Studio, Jason Perreault, Joshua Rille, and John Rubino.
2022 represents a landmark occasion for the 10X10 Photography Project, which has highlighted a total of 100 exceptional photographers who have collectively captured portraits of 1000 queer Canadian individuals in the arts. Please join James and AGM Curator Shannon Anderson for this special opportunity to learn more about the history of the 10X10 project and the current exhibition, on view until August 28.
