New Vistas: Echoes of Home is a month-long juried group exhibition featuring early-career visual artists whose work explores the notion of home and the transformative forces of identity, community, and culture. Accepted mediums are painting, drawing, photography, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and digital art prints.

Submissions should reflect the following themes:

  • The Process of Home-Building: What does it mean to create a home? What emotions, challenges, and expectations shape the experience of establishing a sense of belonging?
  • Culture and Identity: How does culture influence one’s identity? Does it foster a sense of belonging, or does it impose boundaries that limit personhood?
  • Myth-Building and Marginalization: Which groups are marginalized in Canada’s national mythology, and how can these myths be critiqued and countered through art?
  • Canadian Identity: What are the symbols of Canada? Do people see themselves reflected in these images, or are they excluded from the dominant narratives
