August 9 – 13, 2021

Overview
Following an extraordinary seven months of auctions, we are delighted to invite consignments of exceptional works for our fall 2021 auction season.

With major auctions including Asian Art, Canadian Fine Art, Inuit Art, International Art, Decorative Arts & Design, Jewellery, and Fine Wine & Spirits, our Asian Art specialists are kicking off our appraisal and consignment tour in Montreal and Ottawa, August 9 to 13.

Why Consign with Waddington’s?
Waddington’s auctions presented on our enhanced digital auction platform reach collectors around the world and achieve record-setting results.

While the pandemic continued to play havoc with many aspects of our lives in 2021, world markets were eager to embrace the convenience of online auctions. As a fifteen-year veteran of online auctions, Waddington’s was already focused on leveraging our digital platforms to provide even higher levels of service for our clients. As a result, our auctions attracted increasingly broader audiences and achieved superb results.

From January to July 2021, we offered:

  • 51 auctions
  • At an average 93% sell-through rate

These auctions attracted:

  • 8,500 bidders from across 50 countries
  • An average increase of 15% new bidders per auction

Building on the success of our recent auctions, we’re launching our appraisal and consignment tour with a focus on Asian Art as we round out the works already consigned for the fall auctions. With increased interest from collectors around the world, we look forward to another ‘white glove’ sale (100% of lots sold) as achieved in our March 2021 Asian Art auction.

Featured highlights representing the diversity of our offerings include a beautiful oil on canvas, ‘Fleurs’, by contemporary Vietnamese artist Le Pho, price realised $144,000; a pair of large, Sancai-Glazed Dragon-Form Roof Tiles, Ming Dynasty (1368-1644), price realised $40,800; and an offset lithograph by Takashi Murakami titled, ‘Wouldn’t it Be Nice if We Could Do Such a Thing’, 2017, which realised $4,500.
