The 2024 Vintage Film Festival celebrates the “Great Directors” with a weekend-long program of 13 films—one each by 13 of the greatest behind-the-camera talents of all time, representing the best of their work!
Visit the Capitol Theatre’s events page, and click “On Screen”. Festival passes—which include all 13 of this year’s movies plus the Sunday lunchtime film talk—are still only $89, which represents a saving of nearly 50% over the cost of individual tickets! But single tickets to any of these great motion pictures are still just $12.50.

You’ll enjoy all-time favourites like West Side Story (the original, from Robert Wise) and Roman Polanski’s Chinatown, great comedies from Billy Wilder (Some Like It Hot) and Preston Sturges (The Palm Beach Story), and two of the most highly acclaimed movies ever made: Orson Welles’s Citizen Kane, and Tokyo Story by Japanese “golden age” master Yasujirō Ozu. Plus more great movies from the likes of Hitchcock and Kubrick, John Huston and John Ford.
Experience live piano accompaniment for our silent films, Buster Keaton’s remarkable Sherlock Jr., and The Blot (by Lois Weber, who may have been cinema’s first auteur). And the Festival also includes the Sunday lunchtime film talk, free admission for young people 25 and under, and free popcorn all weekend!
