Two Job Opportunities: Head, Exhibitions & Collections and Project Lead at Art Windsor-Essex

Head, Exhibitions and Collections
Permanent, Full-Time

Reporting to the Executive Director, AWE is looking for a passionate art lover who thrives in a vibrant and creative work environment to manage AWE’s art collection and coordinate our diverse exhibitions and collections installation through de-installation. The successful candidate will coordinate and partner with artists, technicians, curators, staff, and other relevant stakeholders to scope, prepare and implement all in house and offsite projects drawing from permanent collections and touring exhibitions including supporting the publishing activities. This is an ideal opportunity for someone experienced or someone looking to take the next step in their career.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Oversees the execution of onsite and offsite exhibitions
- In collaboration with Head, Programs and Projects, curate exhibitions as assigned, developing exhibition proposals and conducting curatorial research related to the collection
- Work with staff to identify and build relationships in the Windsor community and beyond, to create meaningful community partnerships to support the success of AWE activities
- Facilitates the purchase and donation of works of art and assists in establishing priorities for the Collection
- Reviews AWE’s Collection, and develops a collection plan aligned with the strategic plan and collecting policies, working with external consultants, scholars, and curators to make recommendations for accession, deaccession, and identifying future growth opportunities for the Collection
- Conduct lectures, talks, tours and other presentations as assigned, representing AWE at gallery and community functions to develop positive relationships and contacts
- Identify funding opportunities and prepare funding applications, and other communications as assigned
- Supervise the Senior Preparator, Assistant Preparator/Conservator and Casual Preparators, as well as grant-funded contract positions, volunteers, interns, and co-op students as required, coordinating the recruitment process and training of casual staff with the Senior Preparator
- As a member of the management team, participate in long-term planning and management of the organization, including DEI, decolonization, and other community-driven transformational efforts
Compensation: $60,000-$65,000
Project Lead
1 Year Contract, Full-Time

Under the supervision of the Head, Exhibitions and Collections, the Project Lead will assist with the development of IAIN BAXTER&: What’s the Big Idea? The ideal candidate will be an early career arts administrator with an interest in digital tools and strategies in contemporary artistic practice, digital humanities, and arts education.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
- Leads project management activities, including monitoring timelines and tracking project deliverables
- Organizes and plans digitization activities
- Coordinates with AWE staff on digitizing collections of materials and project materials onsite
- Works with external vendors for digitization of materials in offsite collections
- Liaise with artists to ensure that research materials and other content are delivered
- Leads content creation: video interviews, demonstrations, b-roll, etc
- Assists with content creation plan, including lesson planning
- Maintains information architecture and content management
- Prepares regular project updates
Compensation: $45,000-$55,000
