Travelling Exhibition Assistant – Summer Program

The City of Medicine Hat is looking for a student to join their team as a temporary Travelling Exhibition Assistant for the Alberta Foundation for the Arts Travelling Exhibition (TREX) program.

This position is responsible for developing exhibit related resource material, preparing and shipping artwork, exhibition installation and assisting with programming, documentation and promotion of exhibitions. Further, this position will travel within southern Alberta to conduct exhibition inspections, train new host venues on exhibition install, and facilitate visiting artist programming.

The Travelling Exhibition Assistant will be required to follow safe work practices, be physically able to handle artwork, hand tools and exhibition crates.

The ideal candidate has experience with content design, marketing and promotion, art exhibition practices such as care, handling and storage of materials and possesses excellent organizational and interpersonal skills. They also have a passion for art and for contributing towards the growth and accessibility of visual arts in communities.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must be currently enrolled in a post-secondary institution in visual arts and/or design program.
  • One (1) year recent directly related work experience considered an asset
  • Valid Alberta Class 5 Driver’s License and an acceptable driving record
