The Ontario Miniature Print Exhibition (TOMPE2022) – Artist Talk by Juror, Jenn Law
As part of its programming for The Ontario Miniature Print Exhibition (TOMPE2022), PRINT LONDON will present a virtual artist talk by Canadian artist and TOMPE2022 Juror, Jenn Law, on Monday, August 29th, 2022, at 7:00 p.m. One of the three Jurors for this national printmaking exhibition, Law will speak about her practice as an independent artist, writer and work as co-founder of an experimental publishing platform.

Jenn Law is an artist, writer, and editor living in Toronto. Working across print, clay, and animation, Law’s practice explores language ecologies, the historical archive/library, literary objects, and processes of material storytelling. She holds a PhD in Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, UK, a BA in Anthropology from McGill University, Montreal, Quebec, and a BFA from Queen’s University, Kingston, Ontario. Law has exhibited her work internationally, including exhibitions in Canada, the United States, Australia, Taiwan, Spain, and the United Kingdom. In addition, Law has published widely on contemporary art and print culture, and has worked as a lecturer, curator, and editor in Canada, the UK, and South Africa. She is the co-editor of Printopolis, published in 2016 by Open Studio, Toronto, and contributed to such publications as Craftwork as Problem Solving: Ethnographic Studies of Design and Making (2016) and Printmaking in the Expanded Field (2017). In 2017, Law co-founded the experimental publishing platform Arts + Letters Press and is the co-editor of the journal art + reading.
Now a biennial exhibition, TOMPE2022 is being held at Satellite Project Space, 121 Dundas St., London from August 17th – 27th, 2022. An open Call for Submissions to professional Canadian-based artists for TOMPE2022 attracted nearly 250 entries from 75 artists across Canada. Artists were invited to submit up to four original miniature prints in any printmaking medium or combination of mediums for consideration by a panel of three jurors:

First, Second, and Third prizes and three Honourable Mentions were announced at the virtual opening reception on August 20th. A full-colour exhibition catalogue has been published to accompany the exhibition. It will be distributed to all participating artists, printmaking collectives and institutions across Canada, and is available to purchase in the gallery.
Print London is a collective of professional London-based visual artists whose practices embrace traditional and contemporary print media and the multiple. Print London aims to stimulate printmaking in the region through promoting the discussion, production, dissemination and exhibition of print media and working towards establishing a print center in London.
TOMPE2022 can be viewed at SATELLITE PROJECT SPACE, 121 Dundas St., London from August 17th – 27th,2022.
