The Korean Culture & Information Service (KOCIS), the Embassy of the Republic of Korea, and the Korean Cultural Centre Canada (KCC) proudly announce the opening of Take Your Seat, together: Korea and Canada. The exhibition, commissioned for the 60th anniversary of diplomatic relations between Korea and Canada, is a photographic celebration of the connections between both countries. It will run at the KCC Gallery from June 15 to July 12. It is the capstone event of Korea Week, the largest ever cultural festival hosted by the KCC.

Thousands of photographs and countless hikes, flights, and drives later, Take Your Seat, together explores the incredible beauty of Canada and Korea and connects them in sometimes unexpected ways. Despite the exotic and surprising, it turns out we’re not so different after all!

A red and white director’s chair serves as a symbol of both our joy and responsibility to take care of our planet, ourselves, and each other. To celebrate the 60th anniversary of diplomatic friendship between Korea and Canada, one chair journeyed throughout both countries. One chair now unites us all!

The exhibition has been jointly curated by Take Your Seat and the KCC, with international contributions from teams across Korea and Canada. The photographs and stories of Take Your Seat have previously been exhibited in Tokyo, Rabat, Toronto, Dubai, Bangkok, Hong Kong, and more. Their global partners include The Trans Canada Trail, The Royal Canadian Geographical Society, the Greater Toronto Airports Authority, and Turkish Airlines.

Take Your Seat, together: Korea and Canada has been published as a limited-edition photo book in collaboration with the Embassy of Canada in Seoul. A virtual gallery has also been created, extending the reach of the photographs to a truly global audience. Guests of the opening reception of the KCC Gallery’s exhibition of Take Your Seat, together will enjoy an immersive gallery experience, cultural performances, and an artist’s talk by Randy and Spencer.
