If your kids like dinosaurs, they’ll love Dino Runs at The Bentway! The morning starts with costumed Dino Specialists teaching participants about dinosaurs through songs, dance, and games. Then, the kids become Dino Explorers, ready to chase and recapture escaped dinosaurs in a fun, non-competitive environment.

The main event is a run around our 200m figure-eight skate trail to chase after and catch dinosaurs! It’s a fun and creative way to start the weekend.

On now: Softer City public art exhibition
May 24 – October 6, 2024

The Bentway’s free public art exhibition, Softer City, is on now under the Gardiner and is open daily. In an increasingly hard city, how do we soften the barriers that separate us? This series of commissioned art installations explore “softness” as a collective strategy for building social connections.

Nnenna Okore and Nico Williams transform the hard lines of the Gardiner by softening the concrete infrastructure with colourful Ankara fabric and traditional Indigenous regalia designs. Share space together and align perspective with Chloë Bass’ sculptural benches situated around the The Bentway Skate Trail. Sing into Toronto-based sound artist Heather Nicol’s Wind Ensemble to contribute to a wind choir and watch brightly coloured windsocks soar. And relax and fall back at Soft Fits, a playful lounge-scape under the trees facing Canoe Landing Park, created by WIP Collaborative and local teenagers.

Just launched: Walking:Holding Portrait Series
June 25 – October 6, 2024

What happens when we open our hands to each other in public? Sixty-four people did just that as part of Rosana Cade’s intimate performance series Walking:Holding in May. Local photographer Kirk Lisaj captured portraits of the participant pairings, in moments of softness and vulnerability. This photographic series invites you to experience your city from someone else’s perspective and consider how our identities can affect our experience of different spaces.
