Studio Assistant, Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre
Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) is a unique multi-purpose recreation, arts and culture facility located in Oakville, Ontario. QEPCCC offers many drop-in and registered recreational, cultural and aquatic programs, including a studio drop-in program and memberships, and an exhibitions program. QEPCCC is currently looking for a part time Studio Assistant.
Job Designation: Studio Assistant
Start Date: December 1, 2018 approximately
Salary Range: $24.63-29.55 / hour
Temporary: 18 hours per week, Tuesday–Thursday, 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. through June 2020 with strong possibility of renewal
Job Responsibilities
This hands-on position provides support to the Cultural Coordinator in the operation and delivery of school and group visits at Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre. It is a seven-month contract with the possibility of renewal. For more information, please contact Cultural Coordinator at (905) 815-5979.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities:
- To maintain correspondence with schools and groups and answer all enquiries
- To book visits using the School and Group Visit Request Form
- To maintain the School and Group Visit Tally excel sheet for statistical and logistical purposes
- To input school and group programs using CLASS software
- To secure instructors from a roster for school and group visits
- To provide guidance and support to instructors as needed, including training
- To liaise with Registration and/or Front Desk for Confirmation documents
- To oversee set-ups for school and group visits
- To assist with preparation, organization, administration and maintenance of supplies and equipment for school and group visits
- To assist with maintaining teachers’ resources, and purchase or create specialized resources as needed
- To assist with maintaining the School and Group Visit storage area
- To liaise with Customer Service regarding school and group visits, as well as their payment
- To provide recommendations for improvements and efficiencies through an end-of-year report
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications
- College Diploma/Degree (BA / BFA), specializing in one of the following areas: Art History, Museum Studies, Arts Management, Curatorial Studies, or Studio Arts.
- Lift certification an asset
- Familiar with the safe artwork handling practices.
- Experience with art/cultural educational programs and working in a professional fine art gallery or museum
- Art Handling
- Health and Safety training
- WHIMIS (an asset)
- First aid certification
