A Daily Drive
Inuk photographer Robert Kautuk captures the vast beauty of the Artic landscape in a low-angle photograph, featured on PAMA’s outdoor banners. Photography is an important part of Kautuk’s everyday life, as he captures key moments, activities, and scenes from his world. During this trip, Kautuk and his team are driving to check the Akuliaqattak and Nattiqsujuq weather stations. These stations track the changing climate in the North. The weather stations are part of the Silalirijiit Project, which combines Inuit knowledge with science to help solve the urgent problems caused by climate change.
This project is in partnership with CONTACT Photography and the Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG).

Jude Griebel: Illuminated Collapse
Illuminated Collapse is a collection of small sculptures that explore stories of the world’s end. Each scene built on a round base, depicts strange and unsettling events. These miniature worlds reflect our modern life, highlighting issues like consumerism, industry, and pollution, and their damaging impact on the environment. The exhibition invites us to consider how our everyday actions are connected to larger global challenges and the future of the Earth.

Dark Ice: Leslie Reid and Robert Kautuk
Rebecca Basciano, Curator, Ottawa Art Gallery (OAG) Climate change is significantly impacting ecosystems worldwide, especially in northern landscapes and communities. In these areas, Inuit knowledge and ways of building community are at risk. To address these challenges, it’s important to use different approaches, combining the knowledge of both Inuit and settler communities.
Dark Ice shows how the artistic, studio, and land-based practices of Leslie Reid from Ottawa, Ontario, and Robert Kautuk from Kangiqtugaapik (Clyde River), Nunaut, come together. The exhibition includes important curatorial work and features photographs, paintings, and videos of Arctic land, ice, and communities, showing their experiences with climate change.
