Virtual Fundraiser: RMG Fridays: Focused
November 6, 2020
7:30 – 10:00 PM ET
THANK YOU to our Presenting Sponsor RBC
Get ready for a fresh take on our RMG Exposed event! This year, we’re combining our annual photography fundraiser with our fun, community-oriented RMG Fridays event. Presenting RMG Fridays: Focused!
With the wellbeing of the public in mind and in light of the continued limitations on social gatherings, RMG Fridays: Focused will also be moving online, making the event even more accessible.
This will be a great opportunity to come together and celebrate art and photography in a safe way from the comfort of your own home.
The event will include pre-recorded segments including musical performances by Rory Taillon and Sacha, an online silent auction, a tour of our new photography exhibition Aberrations, a fun photography activity and contest, and a screening of a DRIFF (Durham Region International Film Festival) short film. As always, all proceeds from our silent auction will go towards funding FREE programming at the RMG, making art more accessible to children, youth, and adults.

For eleven years, the RMG’s annual photography competition and fundraiser has showcased the talent of regional and national photographers, as well as promoted and raised awareness about collecting contemporary photography. Each year, a jury has the difficult task of selecting images from a large roster of submissions, and this year was no different. This online exhibition features photographs chosen by an esteemed jury that included Jonathan Groeneweg (co-owner of Smokestack and visual artist), Jennifer Bedford (lens-based artist and educator), and Matthew Kyba (Curator of Visual Arts Centre of Clarington and writer). The selected images in this online exhibition demonstrates photography’s ability to capture a moment, a place, a feeling, while being experimental and responsive to what is happening in the world. Competition winners will be announced during our virtual event!
All photographs featured in the online exhibition will be available for purchase through an online auction platform. The auction will go live and bidding will begin on October 30th, 2020. Bidding will continue throughout our virtual event and results will be announced live at the end of the evening.
Registration for this fundraising event is FREE and virtual attendees will have the option of purchasing a ‘party-box’ including delicious items from local vendors, helping to better create the experience of a live event! Each box will contain treats from Isabella’s and Mathilda’s, as well as a beer from local brewery All or Nothing Brewhouse and can be picked up at the RMG prior to the event.
