Mural Application at 906-1st Avenue NE, Calgary, Alberta

First Capital is seeking to commission a mural for application on the newly developed commercial building at 906-1st Avenue NE. This building is situated in a high-visibility corridor, just minutes from Downtown Calgary and the Bow River.

Details

Looking for an artist, local to the greater Calgary area, to design and install a mural to be displayed in the laneway on the East side closest to 1 Ave. The design should be carefully researched to incorporate components of the Bridgeland community’s historical context, and be intentional in tying in themes of the local neighbourhood and culture. The timeline for installation is late Spring or early Summer 2026.

Project Requirements

The public art concept will acknowledge the site’s historical context within the Bridgeland community, while providing visual animation and interest for this side of the building abutting the laneway. Design should be mindful of the building’s colour scheme, window placement, and wall ratio.
