City of Mississauga – Request for Proposals
Temporary Public Art: Own Your Litter Public Art Project
Deadline: Sunday, April 30, 2023 by 11:59 p.m. EDT
The City of Mississauga Public Art Program, in partnership with the Parks, Forestry and Environment Division, invite artists and/or artist teams to submit proposals for a temporary public art project that explores our relationship with garbage.
Artists are asked to propose artwork that uses locally collected trash as a major part of its creation and explores the connection between the environment, waste reduction and the circular economy.
This public art project will combine artistic excellence, creativity and innovation with environmental conservation. The project aims to challenge the perception of waste culture by providing a unique platform for community members and visitors to engage with the circular economy philosophy.
The commissioned artist(s) will be responsible for all fabrication and installation. The artwork will be completed and installed in J.C. Saddington Park (53 Lake Street, Mississauga, ON) for at least a one-year period starting in September 2023.
The total budget for this project is $15,000 + HST.
Submissions are being accepted until Sunday, April 30, 2023 at 11:59 p.m. EDT.
