Mural Competition
Oakville Hospital Foundation – Request for Proposals

Deadline: February 4, 2022, 4:00pm

The Oakville Hospital Foundation (OHF) invites artists to submit proposals for original digital renderings to create a four-panel vinyl mural that celebrates community engagement and connects to themes of health and wellness (the Project). The mural will be on display at Oakville Trafalgar Memorial Hospital (OTMH), located at (3001 Hospital Gate, Oakville) for a minimum of 3 years.

The Project is intended to publically acknowledge, and provide thanks for, the community’s contributions to OTMH in support of quality health care—through participation in past OHF fundraising events, such as the Diwali Gala, Birmingham Bank Bed Race, Charity Golf Tournament, and the Run for Women.

The mission of the OHF is to connect generosity to world-class community healthcare at OTMH. Guided by our values of gratitude, accountability, and respect, we are committed to ensuring our hospital has the resources it needs to provide medical care to patients close to home.

The OTMH Art Council is acting in an advisory role throughout the process and will assist in the selection of the artistic work. The mandate of the OTMH Art Council is to create an environment that promotes physical and emotional healing through the therapeutic effects of art. With leadership from individuals representing the arts and cultural community, the OTMH Art Council promotes interaction and connection with art to support holistic health.

Artists are asked to propose artwork that evokes a sense of community belonging. The selected commission will be fabricated, as indicated below, by the OHF and the OTMH Art Council as a series of four vinyl murals, installed along a corridor connecting OTMH’s parking garage to its main entrance. Proposals that take an innovative approach to the content and concept, and contribute to providing an uplifting, positive environment, are of particular interest.

The artist fee for this project is $4000.00 CAD. (Fees are paid for the artwork files. The production and installation will be the responsibility of the OHF, with the support of the OTMH Art Council.)
