Toronto’s Space* is proud to present The Beatles Works by Paul Saltzman, a one-night-only photography exhibit that brings the spirit of the Beatles’ 1968 journey to India into the heart of the city.

This intimate exhibition features a powerful collection of rare photographs taken by Canadian filmmaker and photographer Paul Saltzman during his unexpected time with the Beatles in Rishikesh. These portraits capture John, Paul, George, and Ringo during one of the most introspective and creatively rich periods of their lives—a time that shaped some of their most iconic music.

Meet Paul Saltzman

In 1968, a 23-year-old Paul Saltzman traveled to India in search of healing—and unexpectedly found himself at Maharishi Mahesh Yogi’s ashram with the Beatles. After waiting outside for days, he was welcomed in and spent a week meditating and talking with John, Paul, George, and Ringo.

Armed with a Pentax camera, he captured rare, intimate portraits of the band—playful, grounded, and far from the spotlight. Forgotten for decades, the photos were rediscovered by his daughter years later, leading to a celebrated book, a documentary (Meeting the Beatles in India), and exhibitions around the world.
This is a rare chance to meet Saltzman in person and hear the stories behind the images that reveal a quiet, transformative moment in the Beatles’ journey.
