Online Pastel Studio Classes at the McMichael

In this six-week-long online studio program, master pastelist Margaret Ferraro will introduce participants to colour theory, value, temperature, and application techniques. Participants will learn how each method of application can be used effectively and creatively. Through demonstrations, Ferraro will illustrate how these concepts relate to landscape, still-life, and other subjects. By the conclusion of the workshop, students will have a thorough understanding of how to set-up and complete an entire pastel painting. The Online Pastel Studio is for beginner and intermediate artists alike. Our experienced instructor will adapt her teaching style to the participants’ experience.

6-Week Online Pastel Studio
Wednesdays, April 21 to May 26 | 3 to 6 pm EST | with Margaret Ferraro

The McMichael is home to iconic Canadian art including works by the Group of Seven, Tom Thomson, Indigenous and Canadian artists, both historical and contemporary. While the McMichael is closed due to the current provincewide “emergency break” shutdown measures, we encourage you to enjoy a virtual tour of our current exhibitions and browse Canadian-made gifts from our eShop. When it is safe to do so, we look forward to welcoming you back to reconnect with the art of Canada and discover 100 acres of woodland and hiking trails in the Humber River Valley.
