Online Oil Painting Art Classes at the McMichael
This six-week virtual studio program led by professional artist Judy Sherman is perfect for artists working to refine their oil painting technique in the subjects and styles of their choice. Sherman will use live demonstrations and individual mentorship to assist participants as they create. Students will learn how to use an artist’s perspective along with various tools to unlock their personal potential. Sherman will introduce and review topics including value, composition, colour, shape, form, lighting and more. Oil painting beginners and veterans alike will discover new skills and improve their technique under the guidance of a skilled visual artist.

The McMichael Canadian Art Collection is an agency of the Government of Ontario and acknowledges the support of the Ministry of Heritage, Sport, Tourism and Culture Industries, and the McMichael Canadian Art Foundation. It is the only major museum in the country devoted exclusively to Canadian art. In addition to touring exhibitions, the McMichael houses a permanent collection that consists of more than 6,500 works by historic and present-day Canadian artists, including Tom Thomson, the Group of Seven and their contemporaries, Indigenous artists and artists from the many diasporic communities.
