Visit our website for full information and on-line application.

New Adventures in Sound Art (NAISA) invites artists of all ages and nationalities to submit works on the theme Digital in Nature for consideration in New Adventures in Sound Art’s 20th anniversary programming in 2021 and 2022. Over its 20 year history NAISA’s presentations have been navigating a continuum that at one end includes works produced entirely in and for the digital realm, and on the other end, digital works that include or respond to natural or socially organized phenomena. We ask artists to reflect on the impact of digital technology on their works and/or how their digital works convey or transform the natural world.

3) Sound Travels Festival of Sound Art

June 3 – Sept 20, 2021
https://naisa.ca/festivals/sound-travels/

NAISA’s longest running festival will feature outdoor sound art exhibitions at the NAISA North Media Arts Centre as well as on-line events.

“NAISA introduces its new programming theme Digital in Nature, which is prompted by a reflection on the pervasive presence of digital technology in public life that plays out in parallel to a compulsion to leave the technology of the city behind and disappear up north to be closer to the natural world. The works curated for this year’s Sound Travels slide in and out of different points of tension and sympathy with both digital technology and how the natural world is represented in sound art.” – Darren Copeland, Artistic Director, New Adventures in Sound Art
