Digital Arts Studio, QEPCCC

Master Instructors Culture – Digital Arts, Woodworking, and Ceramics classes for children, youth and adults

Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre (QEPCCC) is a unique multi-purpose recreation, arts and culture facility located in Oakville, Ontario. QEPCCC offers many drop-in and registered recreational, cultural and aquatic programs, including a studio drop-in program and memberships, and an exhibitions program.

Job Designation: Master Instructor Culture – Digital Arts, Woodworking and Ceramics classes
Start Date: March 2022
Salary Range: Starting at $29.12 hourly
Temporary: Contract hours by course appointment, varied at 2 to 8 hours weekly

Woodworking Studio, QEPCCC

Job Responsibilities:

These positions provide instructional Digital, Woodworking and Ceramics classes at the Queen Elizabeth Park Community and Cultural Centre to children, youth and adults in a ceramic studio environment. The successful applicant must be an independent, reliable individual able to work with minimal supervision and expected to assist in developing curriculum. Responsibilities include:

Digital Arts

  • Familiarity with a broad range of digital techniques, technologies and practices with one or more of the following interests/skills: Graphic Design (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator); Digital Photography (Photoshop, Lightroom); Digital Animation (Flash); Video Editing (Premiere, iMovie); Sound and Music Recording (ProTools, Ableton); Coding (Minecraft); 3D Printing (TinkerCAD); Website Design (WIX); Desktop Publishing (Publisher, InDesign); Cricut 3 machine; large-format Epson printer
  • Preparing, leading and delivering digital arts classes in a Macintosh environment to meet the needs of all participants registered in the program
  • Assisting with research and development of appropriate digital arts programming for children, youth and adults, ensuring that digital art activities are safe, creative, and inclusive of all program participants
  • Providing a positive learning and recreational experience for all participants
  • To support Town department objectives and mandate

Woodworking

  • Preparing, leading and delivering fine woodworking classes and introductory woodworking classes to meet the needs of all participants registered in the program including children, youth and adults
  • Assisting with research and development of appropriate wood working programming for beginner and practicing artists, ensuring that art activities are safe, creative, and inclusive of all program participants
  • Providing a positive learning and recreational experience for all participants
  • To support Town department objectives and mandate

Ceramics

  • Preparing, leading and delivering children, youth and adult clay classes, including hand building and wheel throwing, to meet the needs of all participants registered in the program
  • Assisting with research and development of appropriate clay programming for children, youth and adults, ensuring that activities are safe, creative, and inclusive of all program participants
  • Providing a positive learning and recreational experience for all participants
  • To support Town department objectives and mandate

Ceramics Studio, QEPCCC

Qualifications

  • Enrollment in or completion of a post-secondary program specializing in Digital Arts, Woodworking or Ceramics
  • Experience developing lessons and activity plans for children, youth and adults
  • Previous teaching experience in an educational setting
  • Demonstrated abilities and a strong knowledge of contemporary arts and craft
  • Familiar with a broad range of artistic techniques, practices and materials within Digital Arts, Woodworking or Ceramics
  • Strong organizational, planning, time management and leadership skills
  • Ability to be flexible and adapt instructional practices to diverse audiences
  • Ability to work independently
  • Training in HIGH FIVE (PHCD) Principles of Healthy Child Development
  • Successful candidates, who are new hires and/or who have not performed in this position previously will be required to provide a satisfactory criminal record check dated within the last 30 days as a condition of employment.
